The Greek Glass Federation was founded in 1976 by scientists and glass technologists with the purpose
to disseminate and exchange views on issues related to the art, history, education, science and
technology on glass.
The members of the GGF are the glass industries of the country, glass research centers
or companies which deal with processing objects made of glass.
Most of its members are scientists, engineers, technologists, chemists who work in glass companies
as well as scientists of other specialties who work in research centers, universities,
technological institutions, archaeological museums, having glass as their field of research.

Connection with the international centers of glass |
The GGF as a representative of glass technology is an equal member in international scientific centers of Glass and participates in functions, congresses and scientific work groups organized by these centers.
International Commission On Glass ( ICG ) |
The ICG is an international organization of national glass associations of the member states with the purpose to develop glass science and technology. |
The ICG was founded in 1933 by several gifted scientists and glass technologists and, today,
it is the international organization connecting universities, research centers, glass industries
all over the world.
The organization of an international conference every three years (and during the two years in
the interim the organization of symposia on the occasion of the I.C.G. annual meeting) are good
opportunities for scientists and glass technologists to meet.
The Greek Glass Federation, under the auspices of I.C.G., undertook the organization of an international
conference on the science and technology of glass in October of 1993 in Athens which was very successful.

European Society for Glass Science and Technology (E.S.G.) |
The foundation protocol of E.S.G was signed in Dusseldorf, Germany, in Oct. 25, 1990 between
the Society of Glass Technology of England, the Deutsche Glastechnisch Gesellschaft of Germany
and the Union Scientifique Continental du Verre representing France, Italy, Belgium and Spain.
Upon the establishment of E.S.G. new members of other european glass associations were added
to the list of its members among which was the Greek Glass Federation.
The purpose of E.S.G. is the communication between the E.S.G. members, the exchange of scientific
and technical information on glass and the organization of common activities, such as glassfile
database, e.t.c. To achieve this, every two years a conference is organized on the science and
technology of Glass, which takes place in the member country holding the presidency of the E.S.G.
during this biennium. During the biennium 2002 - 2004, the G.G.F. holds the presidency of E.S.G.
